Screen time and kids is one of those things that just has not been around for us to know what the best thing is. At least that used to be true. Here in 2019 people are starting to do good prospective looks at various affects on the brain. Here's what I found on a few different sites:
the American Academy of Pediatrics
0-18 month: none except for video chatting if needed
2-5 years: less than an hour a day WITH AN ADULT
The this big Canadian study hit this fall I guess, I had missed it because I live under a rock sometimes but this was a huge study review 10 years of data. It's call the Canadian 24 hour movement guide if you want to read more. They recommend:
for kids 9-1: 60 mintues of exercises, less than 2 hours of recreational screen time AND 9-11 hours of sleep; the sleep was more important than the screen time for "Superior Global Cognition" (haha, thanks scientists for naming that like a superhero).
There you go! That's what I found just now!
GO OUTSIDE!! I have a lot of mud and animals if any kids need it at any time :) I think screens and the internet are important tools like anything else but all things in moderation!
